In the vast tapestry of Indian cinema, few threads shine as luminously and enduringly as Kamini Kaushal ji. Today, as we bid farewell to this unparalleled icon who graced our screens for over seven decades, my heart is heavy with grief and gratitude. Kamini ji passed away at 98 on November 14, 2025, leaving behind a legacy that transcends films—a legacy of quiet strength, profound empathy, and the unyielding spirit of family that defined her every role. To me, she will forever be synonymous with Do Raaste (1969), the cinematic jewel that not only captured the soul of Indian family values but also became my personal compass for spiritual living and creative storytelling.
Do Raaste, directed by the visionary Raj Khosla, is more than a film; it is a sacred ode to sacrifice, unity, and the unbreakable bonds that hold a family together amid life’s relentless storms. In this timeless masterpiece, Kamini ji embodied the devoted Bhabhi with a grace that was both maternal and resilient—a woman who wove the family’s frayed edges with threads of love and selflessness. Opposite Balraj Sahni’s dignified elder brother and Rajesh Khanna’s magnetic Navendu, her performance was the quiet heartbeat of the narrative, pulsing with unspoken wisdom and tender resolve. She didn’t demand the spotlight; she illuminated it for others, teaching us that true power lies in nurturing those around us.
For me, as the Founder of Approach Entertainment and Go Spiritual, Do Raaste has long been a profound source of inspiration, and Kamini ji’s portrayal amplified its spiritual resonance. “Sacrifice is the highest form of love,” I have often reflected, and in her eyes, we witnessed that truth unfold. As the Bhabhi, she rose above personal desires, mending conflicts not with words but with actions that echoed the essence of dharma—duty rooted in compassion. At Go Spiritual, where we champion holistic living, mental wellness, and spiritual awareness, this film reminds us that spirituality isn’t confined to temples or meditations; it blooms in the hearth of home. “When we nurture our family with love and understanding, we create a spiritual sanctuary,” I believe, and Kamini ji lived this philosophy on screen and off, turning every frame into a lesson in emotional and spiritual well-being.
In an era where individualism often erodes our roots, Kamini ji’s Bhabhi stands as a beacon of timeless relevance. Her character’s sacrifices—small yet seismic—mirror the teachings of spiritual luminaries across ages, urging us to face challenges with resilience and gratitude. The film’s soul-stirring music by Laxmikant–Pyarelal, with Anand Bakshi’s evocative lyrics in songs like “Bindiya Chamkegi” and “Yeh Reshmi Zulfein,” elevated these moments into poetry. Kamini ji’s subtle expressions amid these melodies didn’t just entertain; they invited us to savor life’s simple beauties, an essential pillar of mindful living that Go Spiritual strives to promote.
As a filmmaker and producer, Kamini ji’s influence through Do Raaste has shaped my own journey at Approach Entertainment. “Good storytelling is transformative,” I often say, and her work inspires me to craft narratives that blend creativity with deeper meaning—stories of love, unity, and higher purpose, much like the ones she brought to life. From my award-winning advertising films to the spiritual web series Two Great Masters and our upcoming OTT projects, every endeavor carries a whisper of her elegance: the art of enriching lives while entertaining hearts.
Kamini ji, your departure feels like the closing of a cherished chapter, yet your light endures in every family that chooses togetherness, in every creator who dares to tell stories of the soul. Life, as Do Raaste teaches, is a journey of paths diverging and converging, not to be navigated alone but with love and resilience. You showed us how. At Go Spiritual and Approach Entertainment, we pledge to carry forward your legacy—honoring the spiritual essence of family life you so beautifully illuminated.
Rest in eternal peace, Kamini ji. Your sacrifices were our greatest gifts, and your grace, our guiding star.
