Mumbai : ‘Uunchai’, featuring the veteran actors of Bollywood: Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, and Boman Irani, is all set to premiere on OTT platform Zee5 on 6 January 2023. Directed by well-known filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya, Uunchai completed 50 days in over 100 theatres on 30 December 2022, as per a media report. The film has been really made with a lot of love and patience by the makers as the production company Rajshri Productions celebrated its 75th anniversary. After running successfully in theatres, Uunchai is now going to entertain the audience on Zee5.

The adventure drama Uunchai was released in theatres on 11 November last year. It was loved by audiences of all age groups. The OTT giant Zee5 announced on social media about the premiere, “Brace yourselves for the most adventurous start of the year with the most loved family entertainer. Watch #Uunchai and re-discover the bond of friendship like never before! Premieres 6th Jan. #UunchaiOnZEE5”.

The film also features Neena Gupta, Parineeti Chopra, Sarika Thakur, and Danny Denzongpa in key roles. On its theatrical release, Uunchai opened to positive reviews for its cast performances, direction, screenplay, and cinematography. However, many critics weren’t comfortable with the movie’s length. For a change, the production company Rajshri Productions adopted a unique strategy of releasing Uunchai only in selected and limited theatres (483 screens) all over the country. It even competed with two big-budget movies like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Yashoda. However, positive word-of-mouth publicity and effective performances by the cast helped the movie get packed theatres during the weekends over a span of two months.

Director Sooraj Barjatya is known for coming up with unique films that always touch people’s hearts and gain spiritual values. His earlier blockbuster films included Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Vivah, and Hum Saath Saath Hain. Considering his films are loved by audiences of all age groups as it is made with neat and clean family themes and stories, his movies get a lot of viewership on television as well. Prime Video announced that it will co-produce a new movie for theatrical release with Dharma Productions and Leo Media Collective.

The currently-untitled movie features Vicky Kaushal in the lead, is directed by Anand Tiwari and produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Amritpal Singh Bindra and Anand Tiwari.

The film also features Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk in pivotal roles and is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 28, 2023. Following the theatrical release, the film will be available for streaming for Prime members in India and in more than 240 countries and territories.

The Vicky Kaushal-starrer is the second theatrical co-production that Prime Video is associated with Dharma Productions.

In the last two years, Prime Video launched Shershaah and Gehraiyaan, directly on the service, serving it to audiences in 240+ countries and territories.

Earlier in the year, Prime Video also announced a slate of original series and movies with Dharmatic Entertainment.

MX Player’s content arm – MX Studios, in partnership with Bada Business, launched a quiz show – Business Baazi. Acknowledging and testing the potential of commerce and business school students, this quiz show will be hosted by Aparshakti Khurana and feature comedian Sanket Bhosale who entertains audiences with gags and mimicry in his various avatars.

The series will start streaming on December, 16, 2022.

The reality quiz show will feature three teams of two students from different schools/ olleges in each episode, determining one winner at the end of it. In a total of 13 episodes, nine episodes will be qualifying rounds (hosting 27 teams over the span of the series) with three episodes for the semifinals and one grand finale that will crown the ultimate winner who takes home the trophy and a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh.

The trailer of Bada Business and MX Studios Presents Business Baazi acquaints the audience with the degree of intellectuality as it tests the contestant’s knowledge of Indian and International business affairs. It further familiarizes the viewers with ace presenter – Aparshakti Khurana and brings about comic relief in the form of Sanket Bhosale, which unlike other quiz shows adds a fun twist to the episode. But above all, Business Baazi insinuates the importance of nurturing the potential that today’s youth carry with them.

Atrangii App and TV, helmed by Vibhu Agarwal announces its new show ‘Johri’ starring Charu Asopa and Nishant Malkani, which goes on floor on 13th December 2022. Finecast, GroupM’s addressable TV company successfully hosted “Addressable TV and Beyond” – the first inaugural summit on Addressable TV in India on December 7, 2022. The event elaborated on how the TV industry is witnessing a transformation as India is set to become the 3rd largest TV market in next five years. Within that time, CTV advertising is set to grow rapidly in India with a 47% CAGR and its growth will contribute to the overall TV landscape including linear.

GroupM’s Finecast, in partnership with Kantar, launched ‘The Changing Landscape of Indian Television’ report at the summit which majorly highlighted the rapidly changing media consumption habits and how Finecast can make it easy for broadcasters and the brands to accurately predict the future of TV viewing in India. The report showcased the TV viewing trends & insights about how Indian consumers are engaging and consuming TV content. The probability of ads being watched is higher on CTV than on linear TV.

The TV advertising market is set to grow in the next five years, with India expected to become the third largest market by 2024. Currently, there are 20-22 million addressable TV homes in India, with more than 10 pc of TV homes being addressable. Connected TV (CTV) is the preferred connection at 65 pc, comprising of Smart TVs and devices such as Firestick and Internet-enabled set-top boxes, while 35 pc prefer linear TV (Cable + DTH).

CTV adoption has been rapidly evolving in the last two years and the future looks promising, with more linear TV users planning to adopt CTV in the next year. Among NCCS A&B respondents, the platform found that viewers are cord-switchers with multiple connections, but two out of three households prefer CTV as their primary mode of accessing TV.

Among respondents, those who prefer CTV appear to have higher household incomes and premium lifestyle indicators such as ownership of smart devices and memberships.

The daylong event showcased multiple sessions that discussed the changing landscape of TV in India and had some ground-breaking research to leap forward in measurement to what’s next in the Finecast roadmap – Leading the charge in addressable TV.  The sessions explored the current and new capabilities that exist for TV advertisers in India along with a sneak peek into how a prominent advertiser uses media to drive attributable business growth.
