Madhur Bhandarkar Wraps Shooting for ‘The Wives’: A Bold Dive into the Hidden Lives of Bollywood’s Star Wives
Mumbai, February 5, 2026: Acclaimed National Award-winning director Madhur Bhandarkar has officially completed the principal photography of his much-anticipated 16th film, The Wives. The project, described as an original and captivating story set in the glamorous yet shadowy world of Bollywood’s “star wives,” marks a return to the filmmaker’s signature hard-hitting, realistic style that explores ambition, relationships, insecurities, and emotional survival behind the facade of fame.
Bhandarkar announced the wrap on social media, sharing heartfelt gratitude to his cast and crew. “’The Wives’ is a story that looks beyond the spotlight and into the personal lives that are often overshadowed by fame. It explores relationships, ambition, insecurity and emotional survival in a world driven by image and success. The film boasts a powerhouse ensemble cast led by Sonali Kulkarni in a lead role, alongside Mouni Roy and Regina Cassandra, who are also in prominent parts of this women-centric narrative. Supporting the leads are Rahul Bhat, Saurabh Sachdeva, Arjan Bajwa (reuniting with Bhandarkar after 18 years since Fashion), and Freddy Daruwala. Produced by Bhandarkar Entertainment in collaboration with PJ Motion Pictures, The Wives is Bhandarkar’s second partnership with producer Pranav Jain following the critically appreciated India Lockdown.
