PVR INOX Celebrates Raj Kapoor’s Legacy with the RK Film Festival in Collaboration with the Film Heritage Foundation
PVR INOX Limited, India’s leading multiplex chain, proudly announces the Raj Kapoor Film Festival, an extraordinary tribute to the legendary “Greatest Showman of Indian Cinema.” This festival commemorates 100 years since the birth of Raj Kapoor, an iconic filmmaker and actor whose work forms a cornerstone of Indian cinematic heritage. Spanning December 13th to 15th, 2024, the festival will showcase Kapoor’s timeless classics across 101 cinemas in 34 cities, making it one of the largest retrospectives dedicated to his legacy.
As part of this centenary celebration, audiences will experience Raj Kapoor’s masterpieces on the big screen, reliving the magic of his unparalleled storytelling. A visionary whose films transcended borders and generations, Kapoor enriched Indian cinema with unforgettable works that continue to resonate worldwide. From his directorial debut Aag (1948) to groundbreaking films like Bobby (1973) and the socially evocative Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985), Kapoor’s cinematic oeuvre captured societal transitions, romance, and universal human values.
The festival’s curated lineup includes iconic works such as Awaara (1951), Shree 420 (1955), Sangam (1964), Mera Naam Joker (1970), and more. These classics, remastered for modern audiences, will offer both longtime fans and new viewers the chance to immerse themselves in Kapoor’s visionary filmmaking. Raj Kapoor’s accolades, including the Padma Bhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, underline his enduring impact on Indian cinema.
