IFTPC Unveils “Chala Murari..Producer Banane”, a Handbook for Aspiring Producers
Mumbai, September 25, 2026:
The Indian Film & TV Producers Council (IFTPC) held its 35th Annual General Meeting (AGM) yesterday at its corporate office in Mumbai.
Ratan Jain, President, IFTPC, presided over the meeting and presented an account of the Council’s activities, initiatives and achievements during the year. He highlighted IFTPC’s continued efforts to pursue issues of importance to the film and television industry, including the proposed entertainment tax by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Jamnadas Majethia, Chairman – TV & Web, informed the members that the TV division had continued to pursue key industry concerns, including the implementation of the new Labour Codes and the long-standing objective of instituting National Television Awards, with the appropriate government authorities.
At the subsequent Board Meeting, Ratan Jain was unanimously re-elected as President of IFTPC for 2026–27, while Jamnadas Majethia continued as Chairman – TV & Web. Rajan Shahi was inducted as a new Director of IFTPC.

IFTPC Unveils “Chala Murari..Producer Banane”
The newly elected Board of Directors also unveiled “Chala Murari..Producer Banane”, an IFTPC initiative and comprehensive handbook designed for aspiring producers and production personnel. The handbook brings together industry knowledge, established practices and practical guidance covering the various facets of film and television production.
Speaking on the occasion, Ratan Jain, President, IFTPC, said that the handbook brings together practical knowledge and guidance that can help aspiring producers understand and navigate the complexities of the production process. He expressed the hope that the handbook would prove to be a valuable resource for those entering the profession.
Jamnadas Majethia, Chairman – TV & Web, IFTPC, observed that many first-time producers enter the industry driven primarily by passion, without fully understanding its practical and commercial realities. This, he noted, can sometimes lead to avoidable mistakes, financial setbacks and unfulfilled aspirations. He expressed the hope that “Chala Murari..Producer Banane” would serve as a practical guide and companion for those embarking on their journey as producers.
The meeting observed two minutes’ silence in tribute to departed members and personalities from the industry, including Dharmendra, Asha Bhosle and Pahlaj Nihalani. The AGM was attended by eminent members of IFTPC.
