WAVES Summit 2025 to Debut in Mumbai from May 1-4, Uniting Global Media and Entertainment Leaders

Mumbai: The highly anticipated first edition of the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) is set to take place from May 1-4 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, bringing together the biggest names in media, entertainment, and creativity from around the world.

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw officially announced the event’s schedule, emphasizing India’s ambitious vision to become the creative powerhouse of the world. Taking to social media platform X, he declared, “India is laying the foundation for becoming the creative powerhouse of the world! Following an inspiring meeting of the Advisory Board with PM Narendra Modi, WAVES 2025 is levelling up to make India the global content hub! This summit will bring together the world’s top media CEOs, biggest entertainment icons, and creative minds from across the globe – unifying entertainment, creativity, and culture like never before! Mark your calendars. Pack your dreams. Get ready to ride the WAVES!”

Initially planned for November in Goa, alongside the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), WAVES was later rescheduled to ensure a larger global participation and has now been set for May in Mumbai.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a crucial advisory board meeting on Friday via video conference, discussing strategies to enhance India’s presence in the global entertainment industry. In a post on X, he stated, “Just concluded an extensive meeting of the Advisory Board of WAVES, the global summit that brings together the world of entertainment, creativity and culture. The members of the Advisory Board are eminent individuals from different walks of life, who not only reiterated their support but also shared valuable inputs on how to further enhance our efforts to make India a global entertainment hub.”

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has positioned WAVES 2025 as a groundbreaking initiative aimed at fostering innovation, collaboration, and new-age content creation across animation, visual effects (VFX), augmented reality-virtual reality (AR-VR), and virtual production. The event is expected to provide a global platform for industry leaders, content creators, and technology pioneers to exchange ideas and shape the future of media and entertainment.

With extensive outreach efforts, the ministry is actively engaging with industry stalwarts both in India and internationally to ensure robust participation. The summit is expected to be a game-changer in positioning India as the next big global hub for entertainment and creative industries.
